Where do you teach?
I have a private studio at B Street Music in San Mateo, Ca. I am also available in a limited basis, to come to you for in home lessons. I require convenient, close and available parking for all at home lessons.
Who do you teach?
I teach beginning students as well as those with intermediate or advanced skills. From children the age of seven up to adults of retirement age.
How long have you been teaching?
I began my teaching practice in 1990.
Are all of your lessons private instruction?
The majority of my lessons are one on one. I am available for in class, after school and clinics in group format.
How often are the lessons?
For those desiring regular lessons, once a week is sufficient. However, if the rare occasion arises where the students has the time and committment to practice enough to warrant it, twice a week lessons can be arranged.
I don't have a drum or drumset, can I still take a lesson?
Yes. many of my beginner students start without an instrument. Lessons can still be productive and during the lesson we can discuss ways to practice without an instrument.
Are there a certain number of lesson I am required to take to sign up?
No. Students are free to take one lesson and never return. Though disappointing, one and done does happen. Most of my students study with me for months or years. I had one student study with me for thirteen years.
How much do you charge?
At my studio in San Mateo my fee is $30.00 for half an hour, $40 for forty five minutes or $60.00 for an hour. Pricing for at home lessons is dependant on travel time and distance.
How do I sign up?
My contact information is HERE. Upon contacting me via phone or email, we will find a time that is convenient for you and available with me. This will be your weekly lesson time until you wish to change it or terminate the lessons.
What do I need to bring to my first lesson?
Those studying snare drum, drumset or timbales need only bring a pair of sticks. Conga students do not need to bring anything. I recommend those studying bongo to bring their own bongo.
CANCELLATION
I have a 24 hour notice cancellation policy. You must cancel your lesson within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time or total payment for the lesson is required. Scheduling a makeup lesson is usually available Doing so within a week of the cancelled lesson excuses the payment for the cancelled lesson.
